engine) afortunadamente el policia nos ayudo a sacar el carro y todo estubo bien,ya de regreso acasa mi amigo y yo veniamos riendo todo elcamino..

Adventures in English

Hi everyone. Today I want to talk about the difficulties that we face when we come to this country. One of those difficulties is the language. Because of language, we go through things that we never thought would happen, some embarassing, some funny like the story I’m about to tell you:

One day my friend and I, both of whom had only been in the US for a few weeks, were driving on the freeway 5 towards Sacramento. Neither one of spoke any English, just a few words. Out of nowhere the car started to have problems, and we had to pull over to the side. A few minutes after, the police arrived to help us, butwhen they asked us what happened we stayed quiet. The only thing that came to mind for me were two images, one of a motor and the other of an explosion, but I didn’t know how to say it. So I gave my English sin Barreras (English without Barriers) a try and I told him this: I don’t know what happened, maybe it’s an explosion in the motor. The policeman stared at me and wanted to laugh but he sill understood what I wanted to say (I don’t know what’s wrong, it’s a defect in the engine). Fortunately the police helped us to tow the car and everything was fine. On the way home, my friend and I laughed the entire way.
